In The Green Book, the poem, I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, is featured several times. We're analyzing the poem and memorizing it, too!
We've begun planting!! Here are some "before" pictures so that we can observe the change and growth that will quickly occur over the next few weeks!! In hindsight, we should have taken pictures of the weed-filled beds for a true picture of what a "before" looks like -- but, as the saying goes...... "Hindsight is 20/20".
Below are a couple pictures of just a few of the hands that have worked this soil. We have planted, along with Ms. Abel's class, the following plants and herbs: basil, broccoli, cauliflower, chard, lettuce, carrots, marigolds, dill, parsley, radishes and sunflowers. We're studying the Mysteries of Harris Burdick. Some of us are writing stories to explain how the mysterious pictures go together, and others are creating the story behind the picture.
Happy Pi Day!
We celebrated Pi Day today by learning about pi (3.14159...) and all its many uses! Two fourth graders and one third grader competed with seventh grade students to see who had memorized the most pi digits! I'm proud to report that our fourth grader WON, twice! She memorized 110 digits!!! And, of course, we also ate pie! |
